Khushi Daryani, MSW, RSW

Maybe you know exactly what’s wrong. Maybe you just know you haven’t felt like yourself lately. Whatever brought you here, we can work with it.

Hi, I’m Khushi.

Therapy doesn’t have to be stiff to be meaningful. You can swear. You can go on a tangent. You can tell me about the group chat drama for ten minutes, because it matters, and I’ll probably have thoughts. We can be serious without being solemn, and we will laugh in session. That’s not a break from the work. It’s often where the most honest stuff falls out.

I’m a social worker by training. That means I was taught to look at you and everything around you: the family that shaped you, the community around you, and the systems you’re up against. I don’t think you can talk someone out of a problem that’s partly structural. I also don’t think you’re powerless inside it. I believe in doing things badly at first. And I believe most people are far less behind than they think.

You might be here because…

Something hard happened.

Grief, betrayal, and the big feelings that come after, including things you’ve never said out loud.

You don’t feel good enough.

It doesn’t have to be dramatic. It can be a constant low hum of comparing, bracing, and assuming everyone else got a manual you didn’t. We work on your actual sense of self-worth, not on affirmations you don’t believe.

You’re exhausted from holding everything together.

Usually it isn’t the hours. It’s that the thing you built your whole sense of self on has stopped paying you back, and you don’t know who you are without the output.

Relationships are taking up way too much brain space.

Why do you pick who you pick? Why does four hours without a reply turn into a full internal court case? Why can you spot the red flags in your friend’s relationship instantly, and not at all in your own? Of everything I do, this is the part that’s least about luck and most about pattern.

Family and culture are complicated.

Love, obligation, guilt, and expectation all get tangled together. That’s especially true if you’re the first one in your family to do things differently.

You’re trying to become a version of yourself you actually like.

Not everyone comes in because something’s wrong. Some people come in because they’re ready to build something.

You don’t need to arrive with the perfect label for what’s going on. “I don’t know, I just feel off” is a completely reasonable place to start.

I’m trying to work myself out of a job.

I like getting paid. I’d like it more if you eventually didn’t need me. The goal isn’t a standing Thursday appointment for the next six years. It’s for you to build the internal skills you’re currently outsourcing to me, and then go live your life. We’ll talk early on about what “done” looks like, and we’ll keep checking that we’re heading there.

Your life outside therapy matters whether that’s hobbies, friendships, goals or the little things that make you feel like yourself. Therapy can help with what’s hurting, but I also want us paying attention to what you’re building.

Validation is the floor, not the ceiling.

You don’t need one more person telling you your feelings are valid. You already know they’re real. The more useful question is what they’re trying to tell you, and what you’re going to do about it.

Sometimes support sounds like “That makes sense” and “I can see why you reacted that way.”

And sometimes it sounds like “I understand why you believe that. Let’s see if there’s another way of looking at it.”

Good therapy is compassionate and honest. Your feelings make sense in context, but that doesn’t mean every thought is true, every reaction is helpful, or every pattern needs to stay. Together, we’ll look at what’s underneath the problem and figure out what’s keeping it going. Then we’ll make changes that leave your life feeling more manageable, more meaningful, and more yours.

No forced positivity. Ever.

I’m genuinely an optimist, but I won’t tell you everything happens for a reason and ask you to find the silver lining in something that is simply bad. What I’ll help you build instead is the ability to hold a hard thing without it running your entire life.
